UP: Clash among poll candidate supporters, five arrested

Five persons have been arrested following a clash between supporters of two Gram Pradhan election candidates at Hashimpur village in the district.

Supporters of the two candidates, Padem Singh and Rajeshver, confronted and fired upon each other last evening at Hashimpur village, SP (crime) Rakesh Jolly said.

A case was registered against 13 people, he said, adding that five persons, including Padem Singh have been arrested in the incident.

Security has been tightened and extra policeforce deployed in the village as precautionary measure, police added.
