Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today suspended eight forest department officials, including divisional and range officers, in Bahraich district.
The Chief Minister has directed suspension of DFO, Bahraich, Ravi Kumar Singh, forest range officer M I Khan, one range officer, two foresters and three forest guards on charges of dereliction of duty and laxity in checking illegal felling of trees, an official spokesman said here.
He said that the Chief Minister has directed that disciplinary action should be taken against them.

The spokesman said that in addition to this, action was being taken against six other employees for dereliction of duty and laxity.
The decision was taken on the basis of a report submitted by the District Magistrate, Bahraich, after a thorough inquiry, he said.
Besides, Vibhash Ranjan of Indian Forest Service has been removed from the post of Forest Conservator, Agra, on charges of dereliction of duty and laxity, he said.
