UP Panchayat poll candidate held for distributing sweets

A Panchayat election candidate has been arrested for allegedly distributing sweets to lure voters in Mansoorpur police station area here, police said today.

Amit Kumar, who is contestingfor block development committee, was arrested last evening while he was distributing Rasgullas among voters to gain their support in Lurbalyan village, they said.

Several kilograms of the sweet was seized from his car along with the vehicle, police said.

A case has been registered against him for violation of model code of conduct, they said.
