Uttar Pradesh government today moved the Allahabad High Court seeking permission for installation of a special music system at the Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi, to be played during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe on December 12.
A division bench, comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice Yashwant Varma, posted for hearing tomorrow the application filed by the state's Chief Standing Counsel Ramesh Upadhyay.
In the application, the court's attention has been drawn to an earlier order prohibiting any type of construction on the ghats of Varanasi and a prayer made for modifying the judgement so that a structure could be erected for installation of the music system.
