The body of Army jawan Jayadrath Singh, who was killed in firing by Pakistani forces along the LoC in the Sunderbani sector of Nagrota in Jammu and Kashmir, was cremated today at his native village Bhagwanpur, in this district.
Thousands of people lined up in the streets to pay their tributes to the soldier and chanted: "Vande Mataram, Hindustan Zindabad," District Magistrate PK Pandey said.
The last rites were performed by his younger brother Sahdev.
"His body was today brought to the village with full state honours and a number of political leaders, senior police officers as well as others paid tributes," Pandey said.
