Amid pick-up in demand at the domestic spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions, cardamom prices shot up by 1.90 per cent, or Rs 21.50 to Rs 1,138.80 per kg in futures trading today as participants built up fresh positions.
In futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in February was trading higher by Rs 21.50, or 1.90 per cent to Rs 1,138.80 per kg in a business turnover of 71 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in far-month March traded higher by Rs 17.90, or 1.58 per cent to Rs 1,150 per kg with trading volume of 4 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by traders due to pick-up in demand at the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing regions, mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures trade.
