US consulate car injures motorcyclist in Pak

A US consulate car being driven by a woman hit a motorcycle in Pakistan's port city of Karachi, injuring the rider and triggering protest from the passers-by, police said Tuesday.

The incident occurred near a flyover after which passers-by surrounded the vehicle. The motorcyclist, who received wounds to his foot, was shifted to a hospital, The News reported.

The passers-by encircled the US consulate vehicle which was being driven by a woman, who was later identified as a staff member at the US consulate, the report said.

Earlier in April, a military attache had rammed his vehicle into a motorcycle in Islamabad, killing one man on the spot and injuring the other.

 

Colonel Joseph Emanuel Hall had run a red light before hitting the motorcycle. He was let go by the police after registration of a case.

But, the father of the deceased youth moved the Islamabad High Court to order placement of Colonel Joseph's name on the Exit Control List.

Pakistan government later allowed Colonel Joseph to leave the country.
