Varsity teachers call protest movement against draft bill

The associations of university teachers today said they will launch a protest movement against some clauses of the draft bill for colleges and universities prepared by the government.

The (JUTA) and the All (ABUTA) announced separate agitation programmes against the draft bill for its alleged anti-teacher clauses.

A JUTA said they will hold a two-hour sit-in at the university on April 26.

ABUTA said, some of the clauses of the draft bill were tantamount to snatching of democratic rights.

Citing a clause like taking the consent of the authorities before commenting on the work of the state government, he claimed such steps will kill the liberal and academic atmosphere of the institutions.
