Vasan meets farmers

G K Vasan, as part of strengthening the party in rural areas, met the farmers at Nochiodaipatti in the district and listened to their grievances.

Party sources said farmers in many areas complained that ponds and lakes had been encroached and got silted. They demanded that the government should launch a major programme for desilting the lakes.

The farmers wanted the government to fix a time frame for transferring pattas to the heirs so that the next generation could get ancestral properties.

Vasan has toured Ramanathapuram, Dindigul. He said he would visit all the districts and complete the first leg of meeting farmers by November one. The second leg of tour would be held from December-February.
