Vasant Marathe bestowed with 'Thane Bhushan' award

Vasant Marathe, who was formally associated with Shiv Sena, was today bestowed with the 'Thane Bhushan' award at a ceremony here.

The award, instituted by the Thane Municipal Corporation, was given by Sena leader and Maharashtra PWD minister Eknath Shinde.

Marathe was elected as the first president of erstwhile Thane Municipal Council in mid 1960's.

The award was also presented to advocate Baba S R Chitnis, former leader of Thane Municipal Corporation Krishnakumar Koli, Advocate Sadanand Bhise, Surendra Dighe and actor Ravi Patwardhan.

Thane MP Rajan Vichare and mayor Sanjay More were present on the occasion.
