VDC member commits suicide by shooting self

A Village Defence Committee (VDC) member today allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

Romal Singh opened fire on himself with his weapon in Pattian Thuroo belt, they said.

Police were probing the reason behind his extreme step.

VDCs were formed in parts of Jammu to fight militants after eruption of militancy in the state.
