Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said vegetables grown in the state would now be exported.

"Jharkhand leads in the production of vegetables and the those grown here will be exported to different places in the world," Das said after inaugurating a Rs 82.77 crore Safal unit at Tikratoli near here.

The unit is the first state-of-the-art unit of its kind in the eastern region, Das said adding its first phase was completed in a year and 70 per cent of the employees are locals. The second phase would be started by November.

Besides generating employment, the Safal unit would play an important role in helping farmers double their income, he added.

Jharkhand is taking initiatives to set up more Safal units in different districts, an official release said.

Das quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi as saying that so long there was no change in the life of farmers the nation would not develop.

The prime minister had said that all round development would take place only under a majority government and the Safal unit in Jharkhand was an example, he added.
