Village Sarpanch removed from his post

A Sarpanch of a village in Gohana was removed from his post after he was found guilty under the provisions of Haryana Panchayati Raj Act 1994.

Anil Kumar, Sarpanch of village Ahulana, sub division Gohana of Sonepat district in Haryana was removed from his post on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Sonepat Rajiv Ratan, an official release said.

An official spokesman said directions have been issued that Kumar would not attend any proceedings of village Panchayat Ahulana and would hand over all movable and immovable property and other records of Panchayat to a Panch of the village panchayat having majority.
 

Apart from this, directions have been issued to BDPO Kathura to register a case against Kumar in concerned police station for allegedly producing fake documents and providing false information to the office of the Deputy Commissioner.

He said the State Information Commission had imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on Anil Kumar, Sarpanch for not providing information under Right to Information Act. Therefore, he was held accused of violating the provisions under the Act.

He was issued a show cause notice to clear his position by the Deputy Commissioner. In reply to this, Kumar has stated that he has filed a review petition in the office of State Information Commission.

However, no evidence was found to substantiate his reply. The accused was also given the opportunity of personal hearing but he failed to appear for the same.
