Villagers fire at illegal sand miners in UP

Villagers opened fire in the air to chase away sand miners who were lifting sand near Yamuna river at Issopurtil village, police said today.

According to Circle Officer Nishank Sharma, police rushed to the spot and seized a truck, JCB machine and a bike being used by the smugglers yesterday.

The illegal miners fled the spot, police said, adding a motorcycle, truck and JCB machine were recovered.

A case has been registered in this regard and the investigation is on, they added.
