Villagers set ablaze equipments of construction company

Hearing cries for help by a boy Rajnish Kumar, a class-I student of Pratibha Pallavan school, the villagers gathered at the site of BSS construction company and set fire to two JCB boring machines, a generator set and the tinsheds of its office at the site of an under-construction bridge, Superintendent of Police (SP) Harpreet Kaur said.

Kumar was waiting for an auto rickshaw to go his native Barbatta village under Kakor police station area after attending his classes when an unidentified employee grabbed his hands and tried to pull him inside the compound of the construction company apparently to sacrifice him to propitiate a deity, she said.

 

However, the boy resisted and in the process fell in a ditch and raised an alarm for help when villagers gathered there and set on fire the equipments and office of the construction company with whom the unidentified man was employed with, the police official said.

The villagers also blocked Jehanabad-Ekangarsrai road demanding arrest of the culprit who was absonding, she said.

Kaur said that she and other officials rushed to the spot and persuaded the protesters to remove road blockade.

A probe has been ordered, she said, adding that raids were being carried out to nab the accused person.
