Viola Davis to re-team up with Steve McQueen for new film

Actress Viola Davis will headline the new features film, based on the 1980s British TV series "Widows", to be directed by her "12 Years A Slave" helmer Steve McQueen.

The 51-year-old actress will play the leader of widows determined to finish the failed heist attempt by their deceased husbands, reported Aceshowbiz.

The TV series was later revamped for US audience in 2002.

The story begins when three armed robbers are killed during a robbery. Their surviving widows then come together and enlist the help of a fourth woman to finish their late husbands' failed job. At the same time, they discover there was a "fourth man" in the raid that killed their husbands.
 

The upcoming big screen adaptation will be scripted by "Gone Girl" author and screenwriter Gillian Flynn. It will be McQueen's first movie since his 2013 Oscar-winner "12 Years a Slave".
