Wanted criminal arrested from Gorakhpur

In a joint operation, UP Police's Special Task Force and Bihar Police today arrested a contract killer from Gorakhpur alleged to be behind the murder of a local politician in Siwan district of the neighbouring state.

Vikas Pal Singh alias Pehalwan, who was one among those who had killed Srikant Bhartiya, a jeweller and local politician in Siwan in November last year, was arrested near railway bus stand in Gorakhpur today, STF said.

The arrested person confessed to his role in several criminal cases, they said, adding that Bihar government had declared a cash reward of Rs 10,000 on him.
