Wanted duo held

Delhi Police today claimed to

have cracked a spate of robberies, a murder and an attempt to murder case in Delhi-NCR with the arrest of two notorious criminals.

The accused have been identified as Shahnawaj alias Abid Mota (25) and Anil alias Sonu alias Matka (30), residents of Delhi's Mustafabad and East Gokalpur, respectively.

A Jafrabad police team also seized one loaded pistol and four live cartridges of 7.65 bore from Shahnawaj, who according to officials, is involved in 16 criminal cases in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

A loaded revolver with six rounds and four live cartridges were recovered from Anil, who is alleged to be involved in murder cases in UP and Delhi. The police also seized a bike from the duo.
 

According to police, they nabbed the duo on March 11 following a tip-off on the Main Brahmapuri Road near Kalyan Cinema.

Two separate cases under Sections 25/54/59 of Arms Act have been registered against the two at Jafrabad police station, they said.

During interrogation, the duo admitted to their role in cases under Sections 392 (robbery), 397 (robbery or dacoity with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt), 307 (attempt to murder), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and 302 (murder) of IPC and under Sections 25 and 27 of Arms Act at four police stations, namely Jafrabad, Jyoti Nagar, New Usmanpur and Shakarpur.

"Shahnawaj also disclosed his involvement in a plot to murder one Mobin, a complainant in a case of MCOCA against Iqbal Gazi. Shahnawaj was apprehended in Bulandshahr along with his associate and was also arrested in a criminal case in which he remained in judicial custody for about three to four months," police said.
