Wanted Maoist couple surrenders

A Maoist couple allegedly involved in several offences in Chhattisgarh surrendered before police in Telangana's Warangal district today, police said.

B Bhikshapathi, a divisional committee member involved in several offences and carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakhs on his head, surrendered along with his wife P Rukmini before Warangal Urban Superintendent of Police A K Jha.

Rukmini was carrying reward of Rs one lakh, Jha said.

Bhikshapathi joined the Naxal movement in 2001. He was underground in the initial period in Warangal before being involved in various offences in different districts of Chattisgarh, including attack on police stations, killing of policemen and CRPF personnel and theft of weapons, he said.
 

The surrendered rebel belongs to Warangal district while his wife is a native of Chhattisgarh's Kanker district, the police officer added.
