Delhiites faced a hard time today commuting on roads as waterlogging led to traffic congestion on important thoroughfares in the national capital.
Those who were commuting through Lutyens' Delhi faced heavy rain and closure of roads due to a protest by scores of Indian Youth Congress (IYC) workers against the Modi government.
They were protesting over a range of issues, including the Rafale fighter aircraft deal, at Raisina Road, forcing the traffic police to close many roads leading to the Parliament House as they were trying to march towards it.
Waterlogging was reported from several areas including Loni Gole Chakar and Khajuri Chowk at Wazirabad Road, under the Modi Mill flyover, Ghazipur Murga Mandi and Mayur Vihar on NH-09, Minto bridge underpass, Mayapuri Chowk, Dwarka Link Road and Mayur Vihar Phase-3.
Traffic was also affected at Khajuri Chowk, SDM office Pushta Road, Raja Ram Kohli Marg from Geeta Colony to Pushta Road, Slip Road and Minto Road Under Bridge
North Delhi Mayor Adesh Gupta while passing by Patel Nagar invaded into waterlogged areas and took charge of the situation.
