Due to an overwhelming response from people, Ministry of Women and Child Development has extended the deadline for its initiative to acknowledge and recognise 100 women achievers till 10 October.
"The last date for submission of nominations for the '100 Women Achievers Contest' has been extended to 10th October," a ministry official said.
The initiative to award 100 women who have contributed to community and nation building across the country was announced on 15 July.

Voting by public will begin on November 7 on the top 200 entries as determined by a jury. Winners will be announced in December and they will be invited to join a reception organised by the Ministry around the Republic Day in January, 2016.
"The Ministry seeks participation of people in nominating women achievers for their felicitation. Nominations are invited online and can be submitted through the Facebook page of the ministry," the official said.
A nomination can be submitted by anyone across the world but nominees must be Indian women above 18 years of age. They may be nominated for their work undertaken within India, under any of the 20 categories listed in the nomination form in the Ministry's Facebook page.
"As the deadline for the nominations, 10th October, is fast-approaching, as many people as possible should make use of this opportunity to participate. The information about the initiative may be shared widely so that it reaches the remotest corner of the country," he said.
