Announcing its next Davos summit, the World Economic Forum (WEF) today said its Annual Meeting 2017 would be held with a theme of 'Responsive Leadership', which will be attended by over 2,500 leaders from across the world including India.
The 47th Annual Meeting, to be held on January 17-20, in the Swiss ski resort town famous for this summit, will see presence of leaders from business, government, academia, international organizations, civil society, media and arts.
"The theme of the meeting (Responsive Leadership) calls on global leaders to renew the systems that have supported international cooperation in the past by adapting them for today's complex, multi-polar world in ways that foster genuinely inclusive growth," Geneva-based WEF said today while announcing the next Summit.
The Annual Meeting of 2016 was held with a theme of 'Fourth Industrial Revolution'.
WEF has been recognised by the Swiss government as 'the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation'.
"Responsive Leadership means recognizing the increasing frustration and discontent among those not experiencing economic development and social progress.
"Their situation will only become more uncertain with the onset of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and its impact on future employment. Responsive Leadership requires a deeper commitment to inclusive development and equitable growth, both nationally and globally," WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab said.
Besides Davos annual meeting, WEF also holds summits in different parts of the world and its next India summit is scheduled to be held in New Delhi in October.
Its Board of Trustees include Indian billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani, as also global leaders like PepsiCo chief Indra Nooyi, IMF's head Christine Lagarde, World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, Alibaba's Jack Ma, Jordan's Queen Rania Al-Abdullah and Bank of England Governor Mark Carney.
