West Bengal CM wishes athletes on National Sports Day
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has congratulated all sportspersons on the National Sports Day and said they are looking forward to host the final of the FIFA U-17 World Cup next month.
"On the occasion of National Sports Day, I extend my heartiest congratulations to all state, national and international sportspersons. We are proud of all of them. My best wishes to all," Mamata posted on her official Facebook page.
The Salt Lake Stadium will host 10 matches of the October 6-28 event, including the summit clash.
"The FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 grand final along with several matches will be played in Kolkata. We are all eagerly looking forward to the great event," she added.
The Bengal Hockey Association also celebrated the birth anniversary of the legendary Dhyan Chand with its annual prize distribution.
