Press Trust of India New Delhi
Prices of wheat and barley rose further up to Rs 25 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on increased buying by flour mills and stockists against restricted arrivals from producing belts.

However, rice basmati remained weak on sluggish demand.

Traders said increased buying by flour mills to meet the rising festive season demand amid restricted arrivals from producing regions led to the upsurge in wheat prices.

Increased demand from consuming industries kept barley prices higher, they said.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) inched up by Rs 5 to Rs 1,580-1,585 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and enquired higher by the same margin to Rs 1,585-1,590 per 90 kg.

Barley also advanced by another Rs 25 to Rs 1,375-1,380 per quintal.
