Wheat went up by 0.99 per cent to Rs 2,047 per quintal in futures market today as speculators built up fresh positions driven by pick-up in demand at the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in December rose by Rs 20, or 0.99 per cent to Rs 2,047 per quintal with an open interest of 11,010 lots.
Similarly, the wheat for January was trading higher by Rs 15, or 0.73 per cent to Rs 2,076 per quintal in 2,640 lots.
Analysts said speculative positions created by traders amid upsurge in demand from flour mills in the spot market led to the rise in wheat prices at futures trade.
