Wheat recovers on increased offtake by flour mills

Supported by increased offtake by four mills and stockists, wheat prices rose Rs 10 per quintal in the wholesale grains market today but rice basmati traded lower on less demand.

Traders attributed the rise in wheat prices to increased offtake by flour mills to meet increased demand but sluggish demand kept pressure on rice basmati prices.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) rose by Rs 10 to Rs 1,525-1,535 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by the same margin to Rs 1,535-1,540 per 90 kg.

On the other hand, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety ended lower by Rs 100 each to Rs 9,100-9,400 and Rs 7,900-9,500 per quintal, respectively.
