Concerned over environmental issues related to landfill sites in the national capital, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal today sought to know from the civic bodies as to when the upcoming waste-to-energy plants would become operational.
Baijal asked the Municipal Corporations to give it in writing during a review meeting of the projects and environmental issues related to the landfill sites held today.
"Apart from municipal corporations, officials from other departments like power and environment were also present in the meeting.

"The L-G directed all concerned departments to work in coordination and fine tune all bottlenecks and then come up with a final deadline," a senior official, who attended the meeting said.
MCD will set up Waste-to-energy plants in Bhalaswa, Ghazipur and Narela-Bawana. However, all the projects are running behind schedule, while the one operational at Okhla is facing legal trouble. Other plants are also under the scanner of the National Green Tribunal, officials said.
