Chief Minister Patnaik today said the was committed to the welfare of tribals.

Addressing a huge gathering of tribals on the occasion of World Adivasi Day here, Patnaik said, "I am delighted to meet the members of the Adivasi community today. Our party is working for the development of Adivasis and will continue to do so.

Patnaik said the newly constructed in district has been dedicated to the tribals and will in the cut-off area now named as 'Swabhiman Anchal'.

Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) also observed the world Adivasi Day in different manner by holding rallies.

Earlier in the day Pattanaik also unveiled a life size statue of noted freedom fighter on the occasion of the World Day for Indigenous People.
