Press Trust of India Kolkata
Dissident Trinamool Congress MP Somen Mitra, who has already announced his intention to quit the party and return to Congress, today said he is doing so because of the style of functioning of TMC leadership and not due to any personal grievances against Mamata Banerjee.

"I have already said that I will leave Trinamool... I will leave Trinamool not because of any personal grievances against Banerjee. She has never disrespected me and has always taken care of my needs," he told newsmen here.

"I will be leaving TMC because of the functioning of the party leadership as a whole," he said.

Mitra had few days ago announced his intention of leaving TMC and stated that he would resign from his Lok Sabha membership first.

"My morality prevents me from joining Congress while I am still a TMC MP, so I will first resign from my Lok Sabha membership and rejoin Congress only after that," Mitra who was once the president of West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee, had said.
