William Fichtner plays General in 'Independence Day' sequel

Actor William Fichtner has been roped in to play the lead role in "Independence Day 2".

Fichtner, 58, will play the top General in that film and take an even larger role in the two films that will follow, reported Deadline.

This news comes after Fichtner joined the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" franchise. He

"Independence Day 2" is directed by Roland Emmerich and his former creative partner Dean Devlin.
