Highlighting the role of woman in society, Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey today said without contribution of woman, upliftment of society would only remain a dream.
"The role of woman in the upliftment of society has been pivotal for ages. Any society cannot develop without contribution of woman," Pandey said at a seminar on 'Swastha Samajik Parivesh Ke Nirman Men Mahilaon Ka Yogdaan (Contribution of woman in inculcating healthy environment in society)', organised in Fogla Ashram of Vrindaban today.
"Vedas, Puranas and holy scriptures reveal the greatness of woman. History reveals that woman had been instrumental in overcoming the problem of their husband," he stated.
"Citing the example from Dwapar as well as Treta", he said that pronouncements like "Radha Krishna and Sita Ram are self explanatory that woman were given due regard since ages".
"We can not forget the contribution of Rani Laxmi Bai or Begam of Lucknow in mutiny of 1857," he added.
