A woman and her four children from Tamil Nadu are missing as they were washed away at nearby Pozhikara in Poovar as heavy rains lashed various parts of Kerala this morning, police said.
The five tourists are from Tirunelveli district and had taken a boat to the Poovar beech. They were bathing in the rough waters when they were washed away, they said.
The children are in the age group of 12 to 14.
Heavy rains lashed Southern Kerala this morning. Low lying areas in Thiruvananthapuram has been water-logged.
Several trains are running late due to water-logging in the railway tracks.
