A 33-year-old woman allegedly set herself ablaze along with her six-month-old daughter in Ladanpur village under Haldaur police station area here this morning.
Kaushal locked herself in the house after her husband, a labourer, and two other daughters left the house and set herself afire along with her third daughter after sprinkling kerosne oil, station house officer (SHO) Ravi Raj Dixit said.
The neighbours broke open the door on seeing flames but by then both had died, the SHO said.
Police have reached the spot and investigations are on, the SHO said, adding that depression and poverty could be the reasons which drove her to take the extreme step.
It is being said that she had been under depression ever since the third daughter was born, the SHO added.
