A woman block education officer of Panchayat Samiti office at Surgana here was today arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000.
The BEO, Mandakini Uttam Devkar, had demanded the sum from the complainant to settle his long standing salary bill, officials said.
The salary bill of Rs 30,216 for the complainant's leave period between July 21, 2006 and December 29, 2013 was pending sanction.
The woman officer was arrested after ACB laid a trap for her at the office this afternoon.
