A 20-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide here Tuesday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Kunti. Her brother Ravindra Kumar has alleged Kunti's husband and mother-in-law had killed her for dowry, police said.
Based on Kumar's police complaint, Kunti's husband Pankaj was arrested and her mother-in-law Sridevi was booked under Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, they said.
Kunti married Pankaj, 25, on May 25 this year in Mainpuri district. The two moved to Noida recently. The family was living at Garhi Chaukhandi village, under Phase 3 Police Station limits, police said.
"Her in-laws were not satisfied with whatever we gave them (at the time of marriage). Ever since the wedding, they were harassing and assaulting Kunti for dowry," Kumar said in the complaint.
