Woman conned by Pak caller

A woman in the district has been cheated by an unknown caller from Pakistan in the name of lottery, police said here today.

The woman Shakuntla Khatri got a call on October 29 from Pakistan.

The caller told her that she has won a lottery of Rs 25 lakh and asked her to deposit Rs 45,000 in two bank accounts to claim the amount. The woman deposited the amount, Investigating officer Jetharam said.

When she got no response from the caller after depositing the amount, she informed the local police about it following which a case was registered yesterday with Kotwali police station.
 

The matter was being probed, police added.
