Woman duped of over Rs 50 lakhs

A woman wanting to send her daughter to USA and securing a job for her relative in Punjab Police was allegedly duped of Rs 52.50 lakhs by two people.

A case was registered after Harbans Kaur, a resident of Tanda, alleged that Parveen Kumar and Sarabjit Singh assured that her nephew would be employed as an Assistant Sub Inspector in lieu of Rs 10 lakhs, police said today.

They also took Rs 42.50 lakhs for sending her daughter to America, but the accused did not adhere to the promises, they said.

No arrests have been made in the case as yet.
