Woman killed in Latehar

A 55-year-old woman

has been killed by unidentified persons in a suspected case of witchcraft in Latehar district, the police said here today.

Panipati Devi went to a field at Hotgaon village under Sadar police station and did not return home yesterday, according to the FIR filed by her husband Bhubaneswar Yadav.

He reported to the police and the body was found in a nearby jungle with the killers using axe to conduct the y crime.

Yadav further alleged that a family in the village had accused his wife of witchcraft after one of its members died in a road accident four months ago.
 

Sadar Police Station Incharge Abhay Singh, however, said the motive behind the murder would be known only after the investigation.
