Woman sarpanch arrested for accepting bribe in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh

A woman sarpanch was on Friday arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh district.

The accused, Sarpanch Sanvri Devi of Bagund in Bhadesar, had demanded the bribe from complainant Bhairo Singh for transfer of a plot of land, Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACB) Rajiv Joshi said.

After verification of the complaint, a trap was laid by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, and she was caught while accepting the bribe amount, he said.

She has been charged under sections under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
