A youth allegedly shot dead his stepmother in village Chaumuha this morning after a brief altercation over the insurance money she got after her husband passed away, police said.
Ramu, who is around 25 years old, shot at his 35-year-old stepmother Sonu, injuring her seriously when she refused to give 50 per cent of the insured money, they said.
"Sonu (35), wife of Amari and resident of Chaumuha falling under Jait reporting police outpost, succumbed to injuries on way to hospital," Dy SP R K Gautam said.
"After brief altercation on the issue Ramu shot his step mother with country-made pistol," Gautam said, adding that efforts are on to arrest him are on.
