Woman village head, husband held for cutting down tree

Police today arrested a woman village head and her husband for cutting down a tree on a government land here.

The accused, Kusum Lata and her husband Brij Kumar were sent to 14 days judicial custody for cutting down a tree on a government land in Bhuraheri village of the district last week.

The couple surrendered in a court here yesterday, police said, adding, a chargesheet was filed against them today following which they were sent to judicial custody.
