Women arrested for smuggling firearms

A 45-year-old woman has been arrested on charges of smuggling firearms and 14 pistols were seized from her, the Delhi Police said today.

Mobai, a resident of Barwani in Madhya Pradesh (MP), who was declared a proclaimed offender in May, was arrested from Shastri Park of North East Delhi on a tip-off, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) P S Kushwah said in a statement.

"She, during interrogation, confessed that the weapons were collected by her from a manufacturer in MP and were to be supplied to various people in Delhi, NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh," the statement said.

Fourteen illegal semi-automatic sophisticated pistols of 7.65 mm with 14 spare magazines were seized from the accused, it said.
