Worker dies as he falls into machine in sugar factory

A contractual worker died when he fell into a machine in a sugar factory at Aska in Odisha's Ganjam district today.

Sugarcane processing in the factory was stopped after the death of Basanta Gouda (30), engaged by a labour contractor, said its managing director T Majhi.

The body was recovered and sent for post-mortem. Though there was no tension in the industry premises, police kept a watch on the situation, said inspector in charge of Aska police station Baleswar Gidhi.

The deceased worker belonged to Baliapalli near Kabisuryanagar, sources said.
