Worker murdered

Police are on the look out for a

construction worker who allegedly murdered his 18-year-old colleague with a hammer while he was asleep this morning.

The worker Muthupandi (26) and the deceased Vijayakumar were staying with their other colleagues in a room at Peelamedu, police said.

As the victim took objection to his colleague watching some movies on mobile phone late in the night, Muthupandi quarrelled with him, which, however, was settled by other workers.

But Muthupandi took a hammer and allegedly hit Vijayakumar on the head early today. He died en route to hospital, police said.

Muthupandi is absconding and search is on, they said.
