Textile firm Arvind Ltd today said workers at its Santej plant have unconditionally called off strike and the plant is now working normally.

"The workers have unconditionally resumed the work from October 25, 2015, morning and the plant is working normally," the company said in a BSE filing.

Workers at Santej Complex, one of the manufacturing plants of the Arvind, went on strike on October 22, 2015 demanding higher wages, bonus etc.

Santej Complex manufactures mainly woven fabric (132 Million meters) and knits fabrics (10,000 tons). It also has approximately 20 million meters of denim manufacturing facility.

The company said that all the textile mills in Ahmedabad negotiated wage settlement with representative trade unions in 2012 and next round of wage negotiations are due in 2018.

"Therefore, strike or any agitation to increase wages at this juncture was unexpected. The trade union has declared the strike as illegal and is working with the Company to convince the agitating workers to resume work," Arvind Ltd said.
