Well-known writer and academician B Hridayakumari died at a private hospital here today, family sources said.
She was 84.
Literary critic, orator and educationist, Hridayakumari had taught English literature in various government colleges in Kerala for about four decades.
She had written extensively and gave lectures on literature, philosophy and education and had served on various education-related committees of the government.
Daughter of freedom fighter and poet Bodheswaran and Karthyayani Amma, Hridayakumari was elder sister of poet and environmental campaigner Sugathakumari.
She is survived by her daughter Sreedevi Pillai, a senior journalist with 'Manorama News'.
