Young Aakarshi wins double crown at Jr Ranking Badminton Meet

Teenager Aakarshi Kashyap of Chattisgarh claimed double crown winning girls' singles U-17 and U-19 titles in 25th Smt Krishna Khaitan Memorial All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament organised by Express Shuttle Club, here today.

In the girls' U-17 singles final, top seed Kashyap rallied her way to win with an easy 21-13 21-15 over 4th seed Unnati Bisht of Uttrakhand and then pipped Shikha Gautam of Karnataka 22-20, 23-25, 21-15 in a closely contested match to win her second crown.

In the boys' U-17 final, fifth seed Aman Farogh Sanjay of Maharastra claimed the title with a 21-17, 22-20 win over Rohan Gurbani of Maharastra. The boys' singles U-19 final saw Mithun M of Air India easing past fourth seed Kanishq M with a 21-9, 21-10 win to claim the title.
