Youth arrested in attempt to rape case

A youth was arrested for allegedly trying to rape a 16-year-old Dalit girl, police said here today.

The accused Kamal was apprehended yesterday at Mandla village under Purkazi police station in the district, police said.

He was absconding since November 6 after he attempted to rape the Dalit girl when she was alone in her house at Mandla village, they said.

Following a complaint by the girl's father, police had registered a case against him for attempting to rape and was also booked under The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences(POSCO) Act.
