Youth dies after being hit by local train

A 27-year-old youth died today after being hit by a local train at Goregaon train station here, police said.

"The incident took place around 9:30 AM, when the victim, identified as Waqil Khan, was standing at the platform to board a Churchgate-bound train," a senior railway police official said.

As per preliminary investigation, Khan fell on the tracks following a bout of giddiness, and was hit on the head by an approaching train, he said.

The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injury, the official said.

The inquiry into the incident would be conducted once the CCTV footage of the mishap is obtained, he said.
