Youth dies of snake bite; CMO, 3 others booked for negligence

A Chief Medical officer (CMO) and three other employees of the health department have been booked for negligence after a youth bitten by snake died allegedly due to lack of treatment, police said today.

An FIR was lodged yesterday against CMO, Dr PK Singh, Dr Ramanand, Siddharth and Dr V K Gupta at city police station under various section of IPC including 304A (causing death by negligence) and 120 b (criminal conspiracy), they said.

The FIR was registered on the complaint of family members of 45-year-old Sudama Verma, who died allegedly due to lack of treatment.

The family alleged that on August 9 after being bitten by a snake, Sudama was rushed to the district hospital, where doctors did not treat him.
